The Work

The We Are Live! podcast began as companion content to co-hosts Chris Denman and Travis Terrell’s popular radio shows on 590 The Fan and CBS Sports 920. The program has seen three years of continuous growth and is now a staple of the St Louis comedy community – drawing national headliners as well as local up-and-comers into the studio for in-depth, laugh-fueled conversations. In 2019, the podcast expanded to a multi-hour both audio and video digital offering (in response to the show’s success and audience’s preference for online and streaming content vs. traditional radio tune-in).

Guests have included: Joel McHale, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Smith, Marlon Wayans, Burt Kreischer, Arsenio Hall, Michelle Wolf, Jay Chandresekhar, Steve Byrne, Ian Bagg, Gilbert Gottfried, Jon Lovitz, Sinbad, DC Curry, Margaret Cho, Rich Vos, Mia Jackson,  Tom Green, Chris Kattan, Jay Mohr, Jim Breuer, Colin Jost, Jo Koy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Roy Wood Jr., Michael Kosta, Ben Bailey, Bruce Bruce, Bob Saget, John Caparulo, Guys We F*cked Podcast, Alonzo Bodden, Steve O, Jim Florentine, Brad Williams, Tony Rock, Sherrod Small, Aries Spears, Dan Soder, Greg Fitzsimmons, Rachel Feinstein, The Sklar Brothers, Michael Yo, Erik Griffin, Matt Iseman, Sherri Shepherd,  Joey Diaz, Rell Battle, Nate Bargatze, Greg Warren...

We Are Live! Podcast

We’ve known David Koechner as Champ, Packer, Commodore, Tush, Bill and every persona in between – promoting the veteran actor’s never-ending stream of projects through press and social media management. We’ve developed and enacted publicity plans with major movie studios (Paramount, Universal, Drafthouse, Roadside), television networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, Comedy Central) and corporate brands (M&Ms, Bud Light, Verizon). We’ve also worked with dozens of top comedy clubs across the country, publicizing David’s stand-up comedy shows through interviews, in-market media tours, and paid social campaigns.

We caught the ear of podcast king Adam Carolla during a phone interview in 2016 (just 6 months after we hit the STL airwaves). He found the conversation so enjoyable that he followed up to invite We Are Live! co-hosts Chris and Travis to be his guests at a sold out live recording of his “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast in St Louis at The Pageant. He also invited us out to Los Angeles for an additional conversation in-studio (and the mutual love - plus multiple reciprocal interviews – has been strong ever since).

Coming off its 100th anniversary, St Louis soda brand, Vess, was looking to invoke nostalgia and re-engage area consumers. We pitched Vess an idea to increase overall brand awareness with our Millennial listener base – including the sponsorship of a weekly pop culture talk segment (with Benjamin Hochman of the Post-Dispatch) that culminated with a live event at LouFest. We promoted We Are Live!’s attendance at Vess’s music festival space, created a unique experience footprint, played themed games and interviewed concert goers over the course of the weekend – resulting in socially shareable video content and a 23% bump in Vess Soda’s social media following.

Now heading into our 6th year as Big Slick’s public relations muscle, we’ve leveraged a lot of funny faces (the event is co-hosted by Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, Rob Riggle and David Koechner) to raise a lot of much-needed money for Children’s Mercy Hospital. A-list talent requires an A-list strategy. We helped take Big Slick from a private, VIP-focused, Kansas City-only event to a much more accessible, public-beloved, months-long calendar of announcements, content and fundraising opportunities, both in KC and online. Most importantly, we made media our storytellers. Reporting on Big Slick is fun, and journalists feel invested in its success. www.bigslickkc.org

Big Slick Celebrity Weekend

We partnered with LouFest in 2018 to bring comedy to St Louis’ premiere summer music festival. We booked (national and local) stand-up talent, secured sponsors and, through publicity, got the entire city jazzed about LouFest’s inaugural “Last Laugh” comedy tent. Then, just three days out, LouFest was abruptly cancelled. With comics already primed to perform and tens of thousands of disappointed attendees vying to be entertained, we joined musicians and vendors to create “In Lieufest.” The local effort replaced the canceled weekend festival with a series of events and performances across the city, including our revised “Last Laugh” show, which drew strong media attention and an overflow sell-out crowd.

The Soulard Business Association was looking for help to grow its annual Oktoberfest at Soulard Market event - and keep its 10,000+ (age 21-35 heavy) attendees engaged and entertained throughout the weekend. Pre-event, we took over Oktoberfest’s social media channels (growing its Facebook page by 72% in less than 3 months and securing 16k event RSVPs). In addition to touting Oktoberfest to our active podcast audience, we also utilized local press relationships to secure 20+ preview stories and client tv interviews. Weekend-of, We Are Live! co-hosts Chris and Travis served as event emcees, keeping the energy flowing on-stage with custom crowd participation games and general comedic banter.

Culinary entertainment veterans from Food Network and Hell’s Kitchen dreamt up Flavored Nation, a new national food experience dedicated to identifying the most iconic foods from across the United States. In 2018, those iconic dishes – created by a roster of 50 top national chefs – were served at a large, inaugural, multi-day event in Columbus, OH (to a sell-out crowd). Behind the fest’s kick-off success was our development of Flavored Nation’s overall marketing strategy. We wrote copy and press materials, communicated with a coast-to-coast roster of culinary pros, and facilitated a multi-month media relations awareness blitz (nationally, regionally and locally).

She worked at a big-time PR agency for a decade, managing clients like Verizon go90, Hardee’s, FedEx and Anheuser-Busch (including 5 years as lead on Bud Light’s special events and sports programming: Final Four, COPA, NFL, Super Bowl, “Whatever, USA”). She left the corporate world to work with funny people, including actor and comedian David Koechner (Anchorman, The Goldberg’s). Beth has developed and enacted publicity plans with major movie studios (Paramount, Universal, Drafthouse) and television networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, Comedy Central). She’s also worked with comedy clubs across the country, promoting stand-up shows through interviews, local press tours and social media. Each June, you can find Beth making the world better at Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City. Since 2014, she’s raked in oodles of national attention (and millions of fundraising dollars) for the charitable efforts of Koechner, Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet and their dozens of generous, famous friends.

Jon, known as “Beebs,” is a live event production specialist with more than 16 years of global experience. He’s served as a site manager at Scotland’s iconic Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Glasgow’s West End Festival, as well as managing events ranging from Corporate Launches to E-Sports Competitions.

Beebs was introduced to the St Louis while managing a UGC e-sports tournament in 2016. He was attracted to the region’s entrepreneurial scene and moved to the United States in 2017 and founded ByJack, a merchandise production company aimed at defeating the industry’s “minimum order” pricing stigma (no, you don’t need to order 25 to get a good deal). In less than two years, ByJack has attracted more than 50 clients including The Muny Theatre, Taste of Downtown St Louis, Cosmic Reunion Music and Art Festival and TipperMusic.

Beebs currently jet sets between London and St. Louis as he manages major events in both cities - from producing large scale corporate shows in London to spreading hay at Soulard Oktoberfest.

Along with Travis Terrell, Chris has served as co-host and producer for the We Are Live! podcast (and radio empire) since its inception in 2015. In addition, Chris co-hosted the “National Bagg Radio” podcast with comedian Ian Bagg (part of Bill Burr’s All Things Comedy network). He’s also appeared on “The Adam Carolla Show” and “The Koy Pond with Jo Koy”

When not interviewing the nation’s top stand-ups or comedy writing, Chris can be found networking with area businesses -  concepting and selling custom, entertainment-centric event sponsorships and content / podcast packages for brands across the Midwest. Just some of his (dozens of sponsor) relationships include Vess Soda, Memphis Grizzlies, Edward Jones, Liberty Mutual Insurance and Urban Chestnut Brewing.

In STL, you can catch Chris hosting weekly, local comedy showcases, as well as “Target Practice Live!” (a comedy roast battle he co-created). Behind the scenes, Chris is consistently  developing new projects for radio, television and, of course, podcasting.
